Tyler Perry's "Meet The Browns"

Tyler Perry is back and this time he is bringing the "Browns" to the big screen. Coming out on March 21 will be the latest film from Tyler Perry, 'Tyler Perry's Meet The Browns, which features the return to the big screen by Madea, the indomitable, law-breaking, fun-loving grandma , and the return of Angela Bassett in a leading role.

Unlike his last film, 'Why Did I Get Married?', which was released in the fall last year, all of his other films ('Diary of a Mad Black Woman,' 'Madea's Family Reunion', and 'Daddy's Little Girls') have opened to great success during Oscar weekend.

Brenda, a single mother living in inner city Chicago, has been struggling for years to make ends meet and keep her three kids off the street. But when she's laid off with no warning, she starts losing hope for the first time – until a letter arrives announcing the death of a father she's never knew. Desperate for any kind of help, Brenda takes her family to Georgia for the funeral. But nothing could have prepared her for the Browns, her father's fun-loving, crass Southern clan.

In a small-town world full of long afternoons and country fairs, Brenda struggles to get to know the family she never knew existed...and finds a brand new romance that just might change her life. Written and directed by Perry and based on his own play, the film also features David Mann, Tamela Mann, Jenifer Lewis, Lance Gross, Chloe Bailey, Mariana Tolbert, Rick Fox, Sofia Vergara, and Irma P. Hall.

The movie has an interesting cast and will no doubt make money. Although I am not a fan of all of Tyler's work, Hollywood needs to recognize that he is a force to be reckoned with.

I like most of the plays. You know I am not a fan of "House of Pain", but the films have been pretty good in my humble opinion. I am always glad to see Angela Bassett working and I miss both her and Alfre Woodard now that they are older and Hollywood isn't calling on them with as much regularity. Yes Tyler is formidable and he does feature actors in his films that you don't see much any more, such as Cicely Tyson, Louis Gossett Jr., Lynn Whitfield, etc. I ain't mad at him.
