This blog is named after a book by Jacqueline Jones Royster. While my goals for this blog are not quite as lofty as Ms. Royster's (promoting literacy and social change) I do intend to address ideas, philosophies, and policies that need to change. Since I consider myself a sociologist I will focus on anything social, which basically covers everything under the sun and then some. Topics will include my take on politics, music, sports, family issues, literature, to name a few.

Cool list Pjazzy,
I never heard of the song You by Marvin Gaye.
Wow, I almost included "You" and "Only You" on my list too! The only reason I didn't is because I had feat. both Teddy and Marvin on recent Top 5 lists.
I just checked Wikipedia and according to her page, Stephanie Mills has her own record label. She probably figured that's the only way to get her music heard and that's a shame.
Forgive me, but I'm still kinda stuck on "You Send Me."
"I Can't Tell You Why" is one of the most grown-up break-up songs I've ever heard. Thanks for reminding me of it!
Can't go wrong with Marvin, he's da man!
Oh, I forgot "You" by Marvin Gaye. I love Marvin Gaye! Glad you had it on your list - mine list is heavy on the 50s and 60s - I'm such a baby boomer, lol.
Thanks for checking my list - I love that you call yourself a Wonder Years Boomer - and, btw, I loved that show!
I came up with another one that was my special song with a high school boyfriend - This Guy's In Love With You - Tijuana Brass! The Brass was hot in the late sixties for some reason, lol.
Musikal Maniac, Thanks! "You" is an old song, from the pre "What's Going On" phase of his career.
Malcolm, The same thing happened to Teena Marie (her own record label). Someone finally picked her up. I hope the same thing happens to Stephanie. I saw her in January. She puts on an excellent show.
X. Dell, I know at this point in time you are deeply entrenched in the Sam Cooke saga, which I am enjoying by the way :)
The Gal Herself, I love that song.
The Mistress of the Dark, Yes he is!
Pop Art Diva, "This Guys in Love With You" is a great song. I remember hearing it as a kid. The Wonder Years is one of my favorite shows of all time. You can't go wrong with Kevin, Winnie, & Paul.
