Thursday Thirteen # 24 - Thirteen Movies That I Can Watch Over and Over

This week I decided to go with Movies I can watch over and over. These may make me laugh, cry or provoke thought. Do you have films that you never get enough of?

1. Roll Bounce - Funny movie about the Rollerskating subculture of the 1970's.

2. Lady Sings The Blues - Nominated for an Oscar for your first film! Diana Ross at her very best.

3. Jackie Brown - Quentin Tarentino and Pam Grier at their finest.

4. Why Do Fools Fall in Love - The movie has some of the funniest dialogue you'll ever hear.

5. Love Jones - Wonderful story about finding and losing love.

6. Final Destination Trilogy - I don't usually like scary movies, but these were riveting.

7. Planes, Trains, and Automobiles - John Candy and Steve Martin together, simply hilarious!

8. Glitter - I know, I know, it bombed and almost singlehandedly destroyed Mariah's career, but it has some good 80's disco scenes. What can I say.

9. Romeo Must Die - The last full performance by Aaliyah makes this worth watching, not to mention the martial art scenes by Jet Li.

10. Sparkle - Before Dreamgirls, there was Sparkle.

11. Piece of the Action - The third outing by Cosby and Poitier, with a killer soundtrack by Mavis Staples.

12. The Temptations - As you can tell I enjoy movies based on music.

13. Do The Right Thing - I can always watch this Spike Lee joint. Some Memorable Performances here.

This is one of my favorite scenes from the film "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles". John Candy was a gas!

The purpose of the meme is to get to know everyone who participates a little bit better every Thursday. Visiting fellow Thirteeners is encouraged! If you participate, leave the link to your Thirteen in others comments. It’s easy, and fun! Trackbacks, pings, comment links accepted!

I love lists like this! And yes, I'm very surprised you included "Glitter." But I love "Lady Sings the Blues." Of your list, that's the one I could watch over and over ... and probably have. I enjoyed Robert Forster in "Jackie Brown." I should rent that one again.

What a great list! Some of these movies I've never seen - and others are great reminders. I've actually never seen Glitter - but I do like Mariah Carey. I do like Jackie Brown and Romeo must die. I will Netflix the others.

Happy TT

#s 4, 7, and 10-13 are favorites of mine too.

When I scrolled down to the You Tube player and saw John Candy sitting in the car, I started laughing right then. I would put that scene in the top 10 of funniest of all-time. I was laughing so hard just now, I wonder if the neighbors wondered what the hell was going on over here.

In answer to your question, here are some films that I can watch over and over:

Cool Hand Luke
Twelve Angry Men (the original)
The Sweet Smell of Success
All the King's Men
Practically any movie starring Humphrey Bogart

This list reminds me of how behind I am in so many things! I need to see just once "Do the Right Thing."

Well, I have been sufficiently humbled---I have not seen any of those. We don't do movies very often. As I tell my children, I'd rather live Life than watch others live it---at least that's my story and I am sticking to it! Happy TT.

Another great list. I share your appreciation for Roll, Bounce, Love Jones and Do The Right Thing. I'm always up for watching any of them over again. I'd add To Sleep With Anger, A Raisin In the Sun (the original) and the Matrix (the first one).

I agree with Malcolm. Cool Hand Luke is one I could watch over and over. I've never seen Train, Planes and Automobiles, but I sure laughed thru the clip!

I so live in a cave. I never knew that Mariah made a movie. Or am I just blocking it out?

I hadn't thought that I had seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles until I watch the clip on your post. How hilarious. Now I remember seeing it. One that I can't get enough of is Weekend at Bernie's.

Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is the only one I've seen (and own, cause it's so funny!). The ones on my repeat list are The Princess Bride, Moulin Rouge, Serenity, Top Gun, The Fifth Element, Star Wars...oh wow, I should just do this as a TT someday, so many are coming to mind! Great idea for a TT. :-D

I do have a few movies that I'll watch over and over, or at least always stop at whenever I run across them on TV:

any of the Star Wars movies
Lost Boys with Keifer Sutherland
Labyrinth with David Bowie
The Mummy movies with Branden Fraser (excited about the new one, yay!)
Indiana Jones (still need to see the new one!)

oh gosh, I know there's more... probably many many more! LOL!

Happy TT!
