Idol's Four Panel Jury A Bust?

I have been half-heartedly watching American Idol this year. One reason is that for the most part the talent has been mediocre at best and secondly, I do not understand the necessity for the fourth judge. When I first heard that there would be a new judge on the Idol scene, I will admit that I was curious. I wondered what type of personality the new judge would have and what she would bring to the table as far as judging is concerned.

I was really hoping that it would be someone with an extensive musical background that would be qualified to judge a contest such as this with impartiality and prudence. While the new judge, Kara DioGuardi does have a musical background (songwriter), I find nothing intriguing or exciting about her. Paula Abdul must agree with me because she has publicly stated that the fourth judge slows the show down and interrupts its flow.

Are there any fans of Idol still with the show in the 8th season and if so, what do you think of the addition of the fourth judge?

I can't answer these questions on the grounds that I was never a fan of the show. My guess would be that they wanted to do something to bolster ratings, so they're trying a fourth judge.

I'm not an AI fan, so can't answer the question either.

BTW: tag, you're it. Got a feeling you'll enjoy this one.

I generally only watch Idol during the first few weeks when the freaks & geeks show up - I just get the biggest chuckle out of what people will do to get their 15 minutes of fame.

I'm still trying to figure out how the numbers work - 4 judges could be a stalemate - wait - does Simon's vote count as two - does Paula's vote only count every other contestant?

LOL.

ive really been following the show this year, and you know what, I really like kara, shes the only one, in my opinion who speaks sense most of the time

i don't know why Paula is talking, i think she needs to get dropped, shes the one who slows the show for me, she appears drunk lol, most of the time, and talk complete trash most of the time, shes an irritant

i hope the addition of the new judge is to delete Paula next year, we have a younger, good looking lady already, no need for Paula.

its nothing personal, i think Paula is played out an the show needs a revamp

I'm the opposite of PopArtDiva, I don't usually start watching until Hollywood week is over. I hate the auditions and the dramas of that week.

I'm finding it hard to get into Idol this season. I'm not really "feeling it" with any of the contestants and I like Kara, but there's no need for a 4th judge. I'm thinking she's there to weed out Paula eventually.

Although the ratings have dipped slightly, AI is still the #1 show on TV. Four judges does seem unnecessary. I think I read somewhere that Kara was brought in because the producers have plans to oust Paula from the show.

I haven't been watching. I usually start checking in on the program once they get down to final 12 or 10. Depending. I can imagine that the forth judge slows down the show which is not a good ide. I wonder if they will make them have less time now that the show is entering the finales?
