Old School Friday - Crooners

This week the theme is Crooners. I could have went with the obvious, i. e. Luther Vandross, Marvin Gaye, Frankie Beverly or even my beloved Stevie Wonder. However I decided to go with arguably the most exciting crooner of the seventies, The Teddy Bear himself, Teddy Pendergrass. He had jeans named after him and even had concerts attended by a female ONLY audience. Unfortunately his world crumbled on one fateful night when an tragic automobile accident left him a quadriplegic.

This meme was developed by Marvalus View and Ms. Grapevine. The rules are simple:

1. Anyone can participate; any music genre

2. Old School is defined as music created before 1999

3. No offensive words allowed, please use edited radio version

4. Post a video of your favorite Old School song to take us back down memory lane

5. Add your name to the meme list so that others can check you out

6. Have fun & don't forget to leave comments for other participants

If you want to join in on the fun, click here. Enjoy Teddy!

I love this man. My mama use to tell me stories about how hot his concerts were. Women falling out, women throwing panties. His music still does something to me...

Wow, Teddy! That man's voice could melt an iceberg!

I had to go with my very first crush on a male singer but I added a little drama because I was having a hard time choosing and had to narrow it down!

I remember those stories too, Mrs. G...that's what got me to listening to Teddy P...I needed to know what exactly was the deal.

I now know...

What a gorgeous picture of Teddy Pendergrass. I still can't believe what an incredible life story he has and how long since he has made his way in public performances. I also felt my heart strings pulled thinking of Luthar Vandross who I loved.

I think I might go pick up Pendergrass's autobiography, inspired by this post...

Good choice Pjazzy. While over Eddie's house the other night, we were talking and drinking as we listened to an Old School R&B station on satellite radio. One of the songs they played is my favorite TP song, Come Go With Me.
