Word For Word

I find it fascinating to hear what celebrities have to say about certain topics. Here are a few recent quotes from celebs.

"If Barack Obama becomes President, black people will have to come up with another excuse. You can't blame the man, if you are the man." -- Wanda Sykes said on Jay Leno's tonight Show.

"When I won my Academy Award (for "Ghost"), the only person I really thanked was Patrick." -- Whoppie Goldberg said of her friend Patrick Swayze who was diagnosed with cancer.

"I was very shocked and disappointed to hear of Johnny Gill's false spin on the chain of events surrounding our wedding. His outrageous lies were clearly a very desperate and pathetic attempt to clean up his reputation at my expense. I would appreciate it if Mr. Gill would refrain from continuing to spread false gossip and lies to the public, and allow everyone involved to move on with their lives. We all know the real truth." -- Tracey Edmonds

"I hate fund-raising. Haaaaate it. Hate, hate it." -- Michelle Obama told Newsweek.

"Oprah was like, 'I didn't care for you, but it was when I got to know you that I realized who you were.' Though Oprah is now a friend, Mary is not surprised at her opinion. I understand somebody like her wouldn't even feel me at all. I'm a n*gga, you know what I'm sayin'? So when she said that to me, I was like, 'Thank you for that honesty.'" -- Mary J. Blige

"We are really going to need a president who has the ability to think big, and Barack Obama is that president." -- Halle Berry said.

"I had several trials and tribulations just as anyone does in school, and the whole going to an HBCU as 'Rudy' is a whole other experience in itself. But I couldn't have imagined going anywhere else but Spelman." -- Keshia Knight Pullium

"I have always evolved and taken a different name each time. It's nothing unusual where I come from. Right now I want to be Sean John because that's where I am." -- Sean 'Diddy' Combs, on yet another name change.

"We're being separated by education. No longer is it a case of 'Oh, I'm black and I can't get into school. We're being separated by economics now. It's the fabric for our children, finding an education." -- Tichina Arnold

"It's not true. Anyway, what can you possibly teach Michael Jackson about music? Nothing." -- 50 Cent, denying rumors that he is working on MJ's next project.

"This (entertainment) world is a crap shoot. I never try to get anyone to forgo his or her passion but you better have something to fall back on." -- Debbi Morgan

"I've always said he's an amazing father it's just now people decide they want to listen. He's an awesome dude. He makes mistakes - people do that. It's part of life." -- Actress Shar Jackson says Britney Spears' ex and father-of-four Kevin Federline is a decent dad.

"It's just a matter of getting the two of us together... We enjoy each other's work, it would be a lot of fun. Our paths never crossed until a couple of years ago." -- Janet Jackson, on her plans to duet with Mariah Carey.

"I'm usually drunk by the first half of it." -- Don Cheadle, on why he's a big fan of the Film Independent Spirit Awards.

"I haven't taken a vacation in 10 years. You've gotta work while it's hot." --Andre 3000, doesn't take time off.

At first I was thinking that Janet might want to reconsider a duet with Mariah because vocally, she is not in the same league as Ms. Carey. I guess if they do an uptempo tune that focuses more on the beat, Janet could hold her own with Mariah.

of the ones you have listed, I think I like Andre's the best. You can readily see the time, energy and creativity he puts into his music and other projects. Also, he's right, you've got to work it while you're hot. Other artist wanna-bes would be wise to take note.

Malcolm, I didn't even think about that aspect. Mariah will have to reel it in a bit. I am hoping that Jermaine Dupree will be able to do for Janet what he did for Mariah (The Emancipation of Mimi) otherwise there might be hell to pay.

Lori, I love Andre's work usually, but I don't know about this last endeavor with Will Ferrell. It is plenty silly and to top it off the setting is the town I grew up in.
